Atwas is a space for everyone to express themselves. Music? Poetry? Sound baths? Movement? Something entirely unexpected? We've got you! And we have a mic and some glowing Mushies ready to welcome you. We host workshops, open mics, quiet reflection, and spontaneous performances. Our camp is about creative freedom, connection, and showing up as your most authentic, wonderful, human self.
Overview: This open forum spoken word poetry hour gives an opportunity for attendees to share their original works of poetry and prose. Sharing is not required for attendance, audience members are welcome as well as those who would like to contribute. Poets will be allotted 3-4 minutes per person to share one or two of their short-form works. All skill levels and experiences are welcome. This is an opportunity for safe, supportive vulnerability through spoken word.
What you'll learn: Attendees will get to share in an intimate gathering of individuals willing to share pieces of their experiences through the form of spoken poetry. This often creates long-lasting bonds of shared experience and friendship through vulnerability naturally. In our third year of offering this forum I expect that there will be returnees as well as new contributors who would like to give voice to their innermost thoughts.
Loni is a journalist by trade, with a degree in theatre who uses spoken word poetry to release the most vulnerable pieces of her life experiences, choosing to use words to empower and reframe challenges has been an integral part of her healing journey.
